Hello, my name is Grace Amado...by day I'm a User Interface Designer and by night...well, I'm still a User Interface Designer. I've been fortunate enough be employed at companies that have allowed me to continually grow and expand my skills and knowledge in this field. I've worked in small startup companies where I'm challenged creatively and logistically to come up with quality deliverables in a relatively short amount of time. I've also had the good luck to work in companies where I'm afforded the luxury of furthering my education in user interface design techniques and technologies.
I invite you to explore this site and check out samples of some of my work. The Kudos section gives you an idea of what previous employers/clients have thought of my work as well. If you'd like to contact me, please tap/click on my name below. Enjoy!
As an experienced designer involved in producing digital design in one form or another, I've been witness to the constantly evolving face of the internet - from static "brochure ware" based sites (with the venerated spinning animated logo) to responsive, rich interactive web-based applications. Throughout this evolution, I've seen many visual design trends come and go (for example, the movement towards more flat design over the richly detailed visuals that was skeuomorphic design). One thing that has remained a constant -- and this applies to visual design as well as user interface design, is the idea of keeping things simple and using a healthy dose of common sense.
In any user interface design project I've been involved with, I feel I've accomplished my objective if I can take a complex set of user requirements and distill it down to it's most basic components that can be reassembled into a clean, easy to use and aesthetically pleasing interface.
Adopting and adapting to newer technologies are reasons I love working in the field of user interface design because it allows me to continuously learn and (try to) get better at something that is always changing. Also, user interface design combines many disciplines -- art, logic, phsychology and technical "know how" -- it's a wonderful sandbox to play in!
